Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ pounds lean boneless beef round steak
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can no-salt-added whole tomatoes, undrained, chopped
  • 1 tsp beef-flavored bouillon granules
  • ½ tsp dried whole oregano
  • 1/3 tsp dried whole basil
  • 3 drops hot sauce
  • 2 cups hot cooked vermicelli
  • 2 Tbsps minced fresh parsley
  • 2 Tbsps grated parmesan cheese, divided

Step 1

Trim fat from steak; cut steak into 1 inch cubes. Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; place over medium-high heat until hot. Add steak and cook until browned. Remove from skillet; set aside. Wipe drippings from pan with paper towel.

Coat skillet with cooking spray. Add onion and garlic to skillet and sauté about 3 minutes or until tender. Return steak to skillet; add tomatoes and next 4 ingredients, stirring well. Cover meat mixture, reduce heat, and simmer about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Uncover and cook mixture an additional 15 minutes or until meat is tender.

Combine vermicelli, parsley and 1 Tablespoon cheese; toss well. Serve meat mixture over vermicelli. Sprinkle with remaining 1 Tablespoon cheese.
