Ingredients

  • one pound of butter
  • one cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • rind of one lemon, scraped
  • juice of one lemon
  • six cups flour
  • one tsp. baking powder

Preparation

Step 1

cream the butter
add the sugar
add the yokes of the eggs, slightly beaten
add the rind of the lemon
add the flour with the baking powder
add the lemon juice

mix until it balls up

chill for several hours
take it out and let it soften

roll it out, cut it with your cookie cutter shapes, brush with the whites of the eggs, add sprinkles, bake at 350 for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.

I have made the dough and put it in the freezer until I am ready to make
the cookies. It works well. I take the cookies out before they are
completely brown because it takes me a little time to get them off the
cookie sheet and onto the cooling rack. they continue to bake on the sheet,

because they tend to be on the thin side. some of mine break, arms of
santa. the crumbs are as good as the cookie itself!!!!! hope this
