  • Crusty rolls or baguettes for 4 to 6 people
  • Roast pork from deli counter for 4 to 6 sandwiches
  • Butter and mustard for spreading on bread
  • 1 rounded T. finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 C. root beer
  • 1/2 C. ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hot sauce to taste (optional

Step 1

1. Make sandwiches as usual to serve 4 to 6.
2. To make sauce, in a small saucepan, cook onion in oil until softened. Mix in remaining ingredients. Reduce to thicken slightly. Keep warm in thermos. Makes about 1 cup.
