Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • ½ cup plus 2 Tblsps packed brown sugar, divided
  • 1 ½ tsps each baking powder and cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3 Tblsps minced walnuts

Step 1

In medium bowl, mix flour, ½ cup brown sugar, the baking powder, cinnamon and salt; set aside. Stir together egg, milk and butter; add to dry ingredients; stir just until well blended. Spoon into greased 8-inch layer-cake pan. Sprinkle top with walnuts and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Bake in preheated 400 degrees oven 20 to 25 minutes until pick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm or cooled, cut in wedges.
