Ingredients

  • 2 can 16oz crushed tomatoes (red pack or scalfani)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 Medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp basil for sauce
  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 pkg 16 oz ziti
  • 1/2 lb grated romano cheese
  • 1 pkg 16 oz polly-o mozarella cheese

Step 1

Sauce:
In saucepan combine oil and onions. Sautee until soft add 1/2 Lb of meat stirring frequently until lightly cooked. Add crushed tomatoes. stir well add basil, salt, to taste. Cook low heat for about 45 minutes.
In the meantime cook the rest of the meat in frying pan and put aside 15 mins before sauce is cooked. Cook pasta and drain, in a big bowl add sauce chooped meat and pasta mix it well. (make sure you leave some sauce to spread on pasta). In buttered baking tray pour half of bowl of pasta and spread it then spread the sauce on top of pasta sprinkle 2 to 3 handful of romano cheese and do the same with mozarella or as much mozarellas you like. Repeat procedure. Cover with aluminium foil. Bake 365 degrees for 40 minutes or more.
