Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 tabletspoons olive oil
- 1 small white onion, chopped
- 1 head cabbage, chopped
- 1 bunch collard greens or 1 package chopped collard greens
- 3 tart apples, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 1/2-2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs

Step 1
In a large deep skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil and butter. Add onion and cook until carmelized. Alternatvely add cabbage and collard greens, caramelizing slightly. Then add apples. Add pepper. Sautee for about 10 minutes or until crisp-tender.
Add milk and cheese and combine well. You maybe tempted to add more milk, BUT, there will be more moisture after it has baked.
Pour into at least a 2 quart casserole dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake an additional 10-15 minutes. Sprinkle with additional cheese and bake until melted and slightly browned.
