  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown 1/2 eup unsweetened applesauce
  • sugar 1/2 c·up buttermilk
  • Buttermilk Brownies FROSTING:.
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa 11/2 cups powered sugar
  • 112 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt ,1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 to 3 tablespoons milk

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9 inch square baking pan
with vegetable oil spray.
In a medium size bowl, stir together the flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder,
baking soda and salt.
Ina small bowl; lightly whisk the egg whites, whisk in the remaining
brownie ingredients. Wisk into
the flour mixture until well blended
·Pour the battler into the baking pan. Bake 30 minutes. Let cool completely
on wire rack.
In a small bowl, stir together the powered sugar and cocoa.powder. Stir in
vanilla. Gradually stir in
milk until frosting is ofspreading consistency. Spread over cooled
brownies. Cut into 16 squares.
