- 1 21-oz. can cherry pie filling
- 1 t. almond extract
- 1 baked pound cake or angel food cake, sliced 1/2-inch thick
- Garnish: softened butter, powdered sugar

Preparation
Step 1
Combine pie filling and extract in a small bowl; set aside.
Spread cake slices lightly on one side with butter. Place one cake slice butter-side down in a cast-iron pie iron; top with one to 2 tablespoons pie filling and a second cake slice, butter-side up. Close pie iron; cook over a grill or campfire until toasted and heated through, 4 to 6 minutes.
Sprinkle pie with powdered sugar; repeat with remaining cake and pie filling.
Makes 10 to 12 servings.
