Ingredients

  • 1-3/4 cups chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp orange zest
  • BUNS
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Chilled master dough
  • 1 egg
  • Coarse sea salt

Step 1

Toast the nuts. Set 1-1/4 cup aside for buns. Melt the butter , stir in cream, honey, brown sugar,and salt. Bring to a boil, rduce heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Pour 1 cup into 8-8 pan. Sprinkle 1/2 cup nuts over and let cool.
For buns, beat the butter, sugar, spices and salt till fluffy. Roll out the dough to a 12-16 inch rectangle. Brush the filling overleaving a plain border of 1 inch. Sprinkle with remaining nuts.Roll onto a log and cut into 9 pieces. Arrange in the pan, patting down slightly. At this point you may choose to refridgerate overnight. Let rise till double . 45 minutes or 2 hours if refrigerated. Bake at 350* for45-50 minutes. Spoon remaining glaze over and pecans. Then sea salt.
