Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening (Crisco butter)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Step 1


Cream shortening and sugar, molasses and egg. Add dry ingredients. Roll into a ball (size of walnut), and roll into sugar.

Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes, 2 inches apart.
