Ingredients

  • Butter: about 4 tablespoons
  • 1/2 cup thin sliced onions
  • 1/2 cup thin sliced fennel
  • 4 cups peeled and sliced thick turnips
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup grated cheese, Parmesan or swiss

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350* Grease 1 quart dish

Melt butter over medium heat. Saute onions a couple of minutes.

Layer the turnips, sprinkle with half the onions, fennel and a little cheese, and the repeat until all done. Pour cream over the dish and top with cheese. Bake for 1 hour.
