Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/8 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 7/8 cup "Smart Balance"
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed (try 7/8)
- 1 cup sugar (try 7/8)
- 1 whole egg
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups oatmeal, 1 minute type ( or use 3 cups total-none ground)
- 1/2 cup oatmeal, ground fine
- 2 teaspoons flax seed, ground
- 2 1/2 cups craisins ( approximately)

Preparation
Step 1
Sift flour, salt, baking soda, spices & flax seed together
Cream shortening; add sugars & cream; Beat in the eggs, add vanilla extract
Add sifted dry ingredients & blend well
Stir in both oatmeals & add craisins
Chill dough
Scoop onto parchment lined baking sheets (walnut sized scoop), flatten slightly
Bake at 350 for 12-15 mins
Cool 5 mins on cookie sheet, transfer to wire rack to cool
