Ingredients

  • Pickles:
  • 1 gallon sliced cucumbers
  • 8 small onions sliced
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1/2 cup Ice Cream salt
  • cracked ice
  • Syrup:
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon tumeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 Tablespoon mustard seed
  • 2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 5 cups cider vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

Pickles:
Place vegetables in a large bowl. Put salt over top. Cover with ice. Let stand for 3 hours. Rinse and lightly drain.

Syrup:
Add all ingredients into a large stock pot. Once sugar is dissolved, add pickle mixture. Bring to a boil.

Boil lids and rings for about 3 minutes. Add mixture to pint size bottles. Seal with lids and rings.
