Devil's Food Cake

Ingredients

• 2 squares chocolate
• 1/2 Cup milk
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 1/2 Cup pastry flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 Cup sugar
• 2 Tbs butter
• 1/2 Cup milk
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Cut up chocolate in small pieces and melt in top part of a double boiler over hot water. Beat lightly and add milk. Put this in with the chocolate and cook for 10 minutes-stirring occasionally.

Add sugar and the butter to the mixture in the double boiler and set aside to cool. Sift flour, cinnamon and soda together twice. Add other half cup of milk to double boiler then sift in flour. Put in buttered layer pans and bake 20 minutes in moderate oven.
