Ingredients

  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 10 oz can condensed French Onion Soup or 1 package dried French Onion soup mix and 10 oz water)
  • 2 cups herb-seasoned stuffing mix or small herbed croutons
  • 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 2 pounds lean minced beef
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 8 oz passata or tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2 tbsp quick-cooking tapioca

Preparation

Step 1

Combine egg, soup, stuffing mix and salt in a large bowl. Add beef, mix well. Shape into 1-inch meatballs. Place meatballs on a baking tray and bake in a 180 degree / 350 degree oven for 15-18 minutes or until done. Drain and transfer to a slow cooker.

In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Pour over meatballs and stir gently to coat.

Cover and cook on high-heat setting for 2-3 hours. Serve with toothpicks.
