Blue Ribbon Apple Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c Canned Apple Sauce
  • 3 c Butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c Chopped Dates
  • 1 T Grated Lemon Rind; 1" thick
  • 1 1/4 c Sugar
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 2 ts Baking Powder
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 4 EGGS
  • 1/2 c Chopped Raisins
  • 4 c Flour; sifted
  • 2 ts Baking soda
  • 1 c Chopped Nuts Pecan

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together butter and sugar.
Beat in eggs one at a tme.
Stir in apple sauce and milk.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Add to apple sauce mixture and mix well.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Pour into 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until bread tests done.
Cool on rack for 10 minutes.
Remove bread from pan and cool.
