    cup sugar

    cup water

    mint leaves

  • 4

    cups ice

  • ½

    cup bourbon (optional)

  • 1

    cup minty simple syrup

  • 2

    Tbsp lemon juice

  • Mint leaves (optional garnish)


To prepare the minty simple syrup, place the sugar, water, and mint leaves in a small saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Allow it to boil for 2-3 minutes, or until the sugar dissolves. Strain the simple syrup. Set the pan aside to cool. Put the ice, bourbon, simple syrup, and lemon into a blender and pulse until smooth and slushy. Pour the drink into a goblet or high ball glass and garnish with mint leaves, if desired.
