Ingredients

    Cup Cocoa Powder

  • 2

    Cups Boiling Water

  • 1

    Cup Butter, at Room Temperature

  • 2 1/2

    Cups Sugar

  • 4

    Eggs

  • 2

    Teaspoons Vanilla

  • 2 3/4

    Cups Flour

  • 2

    Teaspoons Baking Soda

  • 1/2

    Teaspoon Baking Powder

  • 1/2

    Teaspoon Salt

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees. Grease and Flour three [3] – 9 Inch Cake Pans. 2. In a bowl, combine cocoa powder and boiling water and stir until smooth; set aside to cool. 3. In a mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla and beat at high speed until light and fluffy. 4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. 5. Beating at low speed, add flour mixture and coco mixture in alternate additions to the butter mixture; beat just until well blended. 6. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean from the center. 7. Allow cakes to cook 5 Minutes in the pans and then remove them to cool. When completely cool, frost layers with icing. USE GANACHE FROSTING FOR GROOM’S CAKE.
