Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 tsp vanilla
• 3 Cups oats
• 1 Cup flour
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 3/4 Cup shortening
• 1 Cup brown sugar packed
• 1/2 Cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/4 Cup water

Preparation

Step 1

Beat together shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Drop rounded teaspoons on greased cookie sheet.

Bake in oven 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

For variety add raisins, chopped nuts, chocolate chips or cocoanut.

Makes 5 dozen.
