Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup boiling water

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs. Combine flour, ginger and cinnamon. Add flour mixture to the egg mixture alternately with molasses. Dissolve soda in boiling water and add to rest of mixture. Put in greased 9x13" pan. Bake in 350 oven for 40-45 minutes.
