Ingredients
- 1/2 C solid vegetable shortening
- 1/2 C unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 C sugar
- 3/4 C firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 2 3ggs
- 1 3/4 ounce package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 Tbl vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp water
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp groung nutmg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 C old fashioned oats
- 2-1/4 C flour
- 1-12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Butter heaving, large cooking sheets.
Beat shortening and butter in large bowl until light. Gradually add sugars and beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add pudding, vanilla, baking soda, water, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt, mix well. Mix in oats, then flour. Stir in chips.
Drop by large roudned spoonfuls (about 3 Tbl each) onto prepared cookie sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake until they appear dry and tops are lightly crached and soft when pressed, about 12 minutes. (Do not overbake.)
Cool 5 minutes on sheets, transfer to racks and finish cooling.
