Ingredients

    cups cake flour

  • 1

    tbsp baking powder

  • 7

    egg yolks

  • 1/2

    cup sugar

  • 1/2

    cup orange juice

  • 1/2

    cup oil

  • 1/2

    cup warm water

  • CUSTARD:

  • 1

    can evaporated milk

  • 1

    cup sugar

  • 5

    egg yolks (beat till soth with hands)

  • 1/2

    tsp lemon extract.

  • Mix the egg yolks, milk, sugar and set aside.

  • MERENGUE:

  • 12

    egg whites

  • 1

    tsp cream of tartar

  • Beat till thick and add 3/4 cups sugar gradually.

  • Pour the batter mixture and fold.

  • CARAMEL:

  • 1

    cup sugar

  • Cook in low fire till it melts and add 1 cup water and let boil till it gets thick.

Directions

FOR THE BATTER: 1. Mix together the flour and baking powder. 2. Beat the egg yolks with hand till they are mix altogether. 3. Add the 1/2 cup warm water to the egg yolk, and orange juice and oil. Mix them all together till smooth. 4. Add the dry ingredients (flour and baking powder) to the egg mixture and beat (with hand) till smooth. 5. Set aside. - Pour caramel into pan evenly - Pour custard mixture evenly - Pour batter mixture evenly - Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. NOTE: Place a cookie sheet underneath the baking pan with a little bit of water.
