Ingredients

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 8 Tbl butter, ice cold, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 firm, ripe bananas, peeled and cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 C banana liqueur
  • 1 C dark rum

Preparation

Step 1

Place scoop of ice cream on four chilled dessert plates and set aside.

Combine butter and brown sugar in pan and stir until mixture is a smooth syrup. Add bananas and baste them with the syrup for 3 minutes. Sprinkle in cinnamon. Pour in banana liqueur and rum and allow to ram for a few seconds. It may burst into flame spontaneously. If not, ignite with a long match.

Slide pan back and forth until flames die, basting bananas while sliding. Place two banana halves around each scoop of ice cream and spoon sauce over.
