Ingredients
- 1/4 C flour
- 2/3 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 3 lbs beef brisket
- 2 T oil;
- 1 large onion, halved and sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Can beef broth (13 1/2 oz)
- 1/2 C white wine
- 1/4 C reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 C honey
- 3/4 tsp dried sage
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Combine flour, salt and pepper, coat meat in mixture.
In skillet heat oil over medium high heat.
Add meat, brown well on all sides
Transfer to roasting pan
In same skillet cook onion and garlic until mixture begins to soften, 2-3 minutes
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Increase heat to high
Bring mixture to a boil, pour over meat.
Cover with foil, cook in oven until meat is very tender, turning once in 2 1/2 to 3 hours
Remove meat from pan, let stand, covered, 20 minutes before slicing
Meanwhile remove onions from pan set aside
Place pan with liquid over high heat, cook until thickened slightly,k about 20 minutes
Return onions to pan, heat through, serve over meat.
