Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup hard margarine, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 unsweetened chocolate baking squares
  • (1 oz. each)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Cream margarine and brown sugar in large bowl. Add egg. Beat well.

Heat chocolate in small heavy saucepan on lowest heat, stirring often, until almost melted. Do not overheat. Remove from heat. Stir until smooth. Add to margarine mixture. Add sour cream and vanilla. Stir well.

Combine next 4 ingredients in small bowl. Add to chocolate mixture 2 additions, mixing well after each addition until no dry flour remains.

Add walnuts. Mix well. Drop, using 1 tbsp for each, about 1 inch apart onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in 375 oven for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are set. Let stand on cookie sheets for 5 minutes. Remove cookies from cookie sheets and place on wire racks to cool.
