Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup
  • 8-10 slices French bread 1 1/2" thick
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp nutmet
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Combine sugar, butter and syrup in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes stirring constantly until bubbly. Pour evenly over bottom of 9x13" pan. Arrange bread slices close together over top of syrup mixture. Combine eggs, vanilla, slat and nutmeg and pour over bread. Cover and chill 8 hours. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the bread. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes until puffed and set.
