Ingredients

  • 2/3 C butter, softened
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 2 egg yolks (save whites)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 C flour
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3/4 C finely chopped nuts (walnuts)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks, vanilla and salt. Gradually stir in flour. Form dough into 1" balls. Dip in lightly beaten egg whites. Roll in nuts. Place 1" apart on greased baking sheet. Press down center of each with thumb. Bake 16-18 minutes. Cool. Fill centers with jam or icing.
