Split Pea and Ham Soup

Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- 1 lb boneless ham, cut into 1/2 inch chunks
- 1 (24 oz.) package dry split green peas
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 carrots, cut into 1/2 inch chunks
- 2 celery stalks, cut into 1/2 inch chunks
- 2 chicken bouillon cubes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- Optional: 1 tablespoon ham base

Step 1
In a 6-quart soup pot, combine all ingredients over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 50 to 60 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
Note: you can use left-over ham or buy from deli counter. If too thick after refrigerating, add water when reheating.
