Irish Soda Bread

A 7-inch round of bread. Our family has this on St. Patrick's day with corned beef and cabbage.

Ingredients
- 2 c flour
- 2 T sugar
- 1/2 teas baking powder
- 1/2 teas baking soda
- 3/4 c plus 2 T buttermilk
- 1/2 teas salt
- 2 T butter
- 1/2 to 1 c raisins

Preparation
Step 1
In a bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut butter into flour mixture. Add buttermilk and mix until a dough forms. Add raisins. Knead the dough on a floured board and form into a 7 inch round. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Cut a 1/2" deep cross in center. Bake at 375 for 40 min.
