Ingredients
- 4 Cups Cake Flour
- 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar (packed)
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Soda (equiv. of 3 Teaspoons)
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt
- 2 1/2 Cups Buttermilk
- 1 Cup Butter – softened (2 sticks)
- 4 Eggs
- 4 ozs. Melted Unsweetened Chocolate (Cool) or 1/2 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 325. Prepare cake pans with your favored method.
In large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
In small bowl, beat eggs until well blended and add to sugar-butter mixture. Add flavoring, salt and baking soda. Blend well.
Add cake four alternately with buttermilk.
Once dry ingredients are blended, beat cake batter mixture on high for 3 minutes.
Pour into your prepared pans (fill half or 2/3 full) and bake at 325F until center is firm to the touch (cake will be pulling away from sides of pan).
Baking time: approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
Frost with your favorite White or Dark Chocolate Icing; Cream Cheese or Good Ole 7 Minute Frosting
