Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole almonds
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 2 cups walnuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spread nuts on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly toasted, stirring occasionally.
In a small bowl,combine sugar,cinnamon, cloves and salt.

In a separate bowl, beat egg whites, with an electric mixer at high speed until soft peaks form. Continue beating, gradually adding sugar mixture until stiff peaks form. Stir in orange zest; stir in nuts to coat completely.

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Evenly pour melted butter on baking sheet; spread nut mixture in pan. Bake, stirring every 10 minutes, for 20 to 25 minutes, or until nuts are brown and no butter remains in pan. Cool completely; store in an airtight container.
