Ingredients

  • FROSTING:
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups bananas (medium), mashed-3 bananas
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda & pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 8 oz pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • OR USE CANNED CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar.
3. Beat in eggs, bananas, and vanilla.
4. Combine flour, soda and salt and add to creamed mixture and mix well.
5. Pour into greased 15 X 10 X 1 inch baking pan. (Also known as a jelly roll pan--is really a cookie sheet with a 1 inch side around it.)
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until bars test done with toothpick.
7. Cool.

Frost cooled bars with canned vanilla frosting or make cream cheese frosting by:

Cream margarine and cream cheese with mixer. Gradually add
powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat well and spread over cooled
bars.
