Ingredients
- 2 large potatoes, cooked, peeled, and grated
- 1 pound ground lamb, veal, or beef
- 1 medium onion, peeled and grated
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon advieh
- 1/4 teaspoon ground saffron dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 3/4 cup flour or bread crumbs
- 3/4 cup oil for frying

Step 1
1. In a bowl, combine meat, onion, eggs, potato, salt, pepper, advieh, saffron water, and tumeric. Kneed for 10 minutes to form a smooth paste.
2. Using damp hands, shap the meat mixture into lumps the size of eggs. Flatten them into oval patties and roll them in flour or bread crumbs. Brown the patties on both sides in a skillet in 1/2 cup hot oil over medium heat. Add more oil if necessary.
3. Arrange the patties on a serving platter.
