Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 ts salt
  • 1 cup grits *quick or regular*
  • 4 T butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • (2 ts black pepper for savory grits)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Bring milk and water to a boil over med heat. Stir in salt, solwly add grits, stirring constantly.
2. When grits begin to thicken, turn heat down to low and simmer for 30-40 min. Stir occasionally.
3. Stir in butter and cream and simmer for 5 min. (add pepper if using)
