  • 1 pkg Duncan Hines® Moist Deluxe® Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 tbsp rum extract
  • 2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3 eggs

Step 1

For an extra-special effect, use a stencil or cut waxed paper into 1/4 inch wide strips. Place stencil or strips in a diagonal pattern on top of cooled brownie or cookie bars before you cut them. Place confectioner's sugar in a tea strainer, then tap it lightly to dust your bar surface. Carefully remove the stencil or strips to reveal your pattern.

Traditionally a holiday treat, but why wait? You can create these rich, flavorful Fudge Rum Balls all year long using Duncan Hines Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix.

Duncan Hines® Moist Deluxe® Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix

Preheat oven to 375 °F. Grease and flour 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

Prepare, bake and cool cake according to package directions.

Crumble cake into large bowl. Stir with fork until crumbs are fine and uniform in size. Add 1 cup nuts, rum extract, confectioners' sugar and cocoa. Stir until well blended.

Shape heaping tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls. Garnish by rolling balls in finely chopped nuts. Press firmly to adhere nuts to balls.

Variation: Substitute rum for rum extract.
