Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1 1 cup sugar
  • 3 3 3 T. Baking cocoa
  • 1 1 1 t. baking soda
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 t. salt
  • 6 6 6 T. vegetable oil
  • 1 1 1 T. white vinegar
  • 1 1 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 1 1 1 cup cold water

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 inch square baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Using a spoon, make three wells in the dry ingredients. Pour oil into one, vinegar into another and vanilla into the third. Slowly pour water over all. Beat on low speed until thoroughly combined (batter will be very thin).

Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

Cool on a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar or frost.
