Garlic Green Beans

This recipe is a family favorite and it has replaced the traditional Green Bean Casserole at our family gatherings.

- 2 lbs fresh green beans
- 14 1/2 oz. can chicken broth
- 4 tsp garlic, chopped
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper

Heat the olive oil and butter in a Dutch oven pot over MEDIUM-HIGH heat; Add the garlic. Cook and stir the garlic for 45-60 seconds or until golden. Using a slotted spoon, remove the garlic from the pot; reserve. Add the green beans to the pot; Cook and stir the beans about 4-5 minutes or until crisp-tender. Stir in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 4 - 5 minutes. Add the reserved garlic and continue cooked for an additional 3 – 4 minutes or just until the beans are tender and the broth is almost evaporated. Remove from heat and cover until ready to serve.
