Red Devils Food Cake

Ingredients

• 1/2 C shortening
• 1 1/2 C sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 C cake flour
• 1 C buttermilk
• 2 oz. red food coloring
• 2 T cocoa
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1 T vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening & sugar. Add eggs. Alternate adding cake flour & buttermilk. In a separate bowl mix red food coloring, cocoa & vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in vinegar & add to cocoa mixture & then to batter. Mix well. Bake 350°, 30 minutes in 3 9" cake pans. Fill & frost with cooked frosting.
