Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup water
- 4 large apples (2 pounds), cored and coarsely chopped
- 1 cup light or dark molasses
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup finely chopped mixed candied fruit
- 1 pound (2 cups) seedless raisins

Step 1
In a six-quart pan, bring water and cranberries to a boil over high heat. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until cranberries pop open. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. The mixture should be as thick as jam. Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Freeze for longer storage. Can be used as an alternative to traditional mincemeat recipes, as a side dish or relish, or eaten as is.
