Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg - separate yolk from white
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 cup walnuts (or any combo of nuts you like) -- chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 275 degrees

Cream butter and sugar in mixer; add egg yolk and mix well; add flour and
cinnamon to creamed mixture.

Spread a thin, even layer on a cookie sheet. Pat until smooth on top and
covers the whole sheet. Beat the egg white and spread on top evenly.
Sprinkle chopped nuts on top and lightly press into dough with fingertips.

Bake at 275 degrees for one hour.

Cut into squares as soon as you remove from oven and place on racks to
cool.
