Ingredients

  • Indian Spice Blend (recipe yields 4 1/2 tbsp):
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon Indian Spice Blend (see below)
  • Sprigs of fresh cilantro for garnish
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garam masala (I used curry powder)
  • 2 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine turkey and Indian Spice blend until well integrated. Form the turkey into four 4-ounce patties, adding a thumb-print dimple in the center of each to allow for even cooking.
2. Grill or skillet-cook the burgers for approximately 4 minutes per side over medium-high heat or until they are cooked through with no remaining pink and have reached an internal temperature of 165 F.
(If you plan on using a Portobello mushroom as a “bun” [pictured], grill or bake for 10 minutes at 350F)
