Ingredients
- 2 tsps olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced (preferably Vidalia)
- ½ tsp salt, divided
- 3/8 tsp ground black pepper, divided
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ cup fresh 100% whole-wheat bread crumbs (1 slice bread)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 egg white
- 1 Tbsp reduced-sodium Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup prepared fat-free beef gravy, warmed

Step 1
1. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion; cover and cook 3 minutes or until onion is wilted. Stir well and add ¼ tsp salt and 1/8 tsp pepper. Cook about 3 minutes more over medium heat until onions are brown, stirring frequently. Cover to keep warm.
2. Meanwhile, combine beef, bread crumbs, garlic, egg white, Worcestershire sauce, remaining ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp pepper. Mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into 4 oval patties about ½-inch thick.
3. Transfer onions to plate; set aside. Add patties to skillet; cook 6 to 7 minutes per side over medium heat or until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. Transfer to serving plates; top with gravy and reserved onions.
