Cashew/Peanut Brittle (Dad's recipe)

Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
1 1/2 cups nuts
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp baking soda

Place nuts on a baking pan, sprinkle with salt. Heat at 200 for about 3 minutes until salt lightly clings.
In a saucepan combine sugar, syrup & water, cook over low heat stirring constantly until it begins to boil. Cook at low boil stirring often, until it reaches hard crack stage 300. Remove from heat. Quickly stir in butter and baking soda, add nuts. Pour into shallow greased pan. When cool enough to handle, stretch to desired thickness. When cool break into pieces.
