Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups 4X sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1/2 t almond
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 t cream of tartar
  • Granulated sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix first 5 ingredients
Add next three ingredients, mixing well
Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours (I rolled these)
Slice off roll, sprinkle with sugar and bake
Or
Roll dough onto *lightly dusted 4X sugar board
Cut into shapes
Sprinkle with sugar and bake on greased cookie sheet til light brown 7-8 minutes.

*note=rolling cookies out on board dusted with confectioner sugar rather than flour results in a more tender cookie
