Ingredients
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/2 t baking powder
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup egg beaters or 2 eggs
- 2 T butter
- 1/2 t vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup snipped dates
- Confectioners sugar
- Reipe #2
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 t salt
- 1/2 t soda
- 1 1/2 cup quick cooking oatmeal
- Filling
- 3 cups cut up dates
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Bake for 25-30 minutes
Makes 18 bars
Cut while warm and roll in 4X sugar
Recipe # 2
Cook over low heat in saucepan, about 10 minutes or until thick
Let cool
Cream butter, shortening and sugar
Mix in remaining ingredients
Split mixture in half
Place 1/2 mixture in bottom of Pyrex dish
Add filling on top of mixture
Add remaining mixture on top of filling
Bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees or until light brown
