Ingredients
- Sauce ingredients:
- 4 lbs. spareribs
- 1 onion, peeled and quartered
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup catsup
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- Dash of cayenne

Preparation
Step 1
In a large kettle, place ribs, onion, salt, pepper and 3 quarts water. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours or until very tender. Drain.
In medium sauce, saute onion and combine all ingredients for sauce. Simmer the ribs, uncovered, for one hour stirring occasionally.
Arrange ribs on rack in a broiler pan. Brush with sauce. Broil, 5 inches from heat, basting frequently with sauce, for 10 minutes on each side.
