The Cake Lady's Decorator Frosting

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup water
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla, or any flavoring of choice
• 6 cups powdered sugar, more if frosting is thin
• 1 cup solid vegetable shortening
• 2 tablespoons Karo light corn syrup, if frosting is too thick

Preparation

Step 1

In mixer bowl combine all ingredients except shortening. Blend on low speed until combined. Beat on medium speed and add shortening. Whip on medium speed for 8 minutes until fluffy and smooth. If frosting seems too thin add more powdered sugar. If frosting seams too thick add 2 tablespoons corn syrup. Use to frost and as a decorating frosting for cakes.
