Ingredients

  • CRUST:
  • 1 1/4 lb butter, room temp
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 lb butter
  • 1 cup honey
  • 3 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp grated lemon zest
  • 1 tsp grated orange zest
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 lbs pecans, coarsely chopped

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350.
CRUST:
Beat butter and sugar on medium til light, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well. Sift together flour, baking, powder and salt. Mix dry ingredients into batter with mixer on low speed just til combined. Press the dough into ungreased 18x12-inch baking sheet, making an edge around the outside. It will be slightly sticky--lightly use flour. Bake 15 minutes. Cool.
TOPPING:
Combine butter, honey, brown sugar and zests in large saucepan. Cook over low heat til butter is melted; use a wooden spoon. Raise heat and boil 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in heavy cream and pecans. Pour over crust. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or til set. Cool completely. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate til cold.
