Ingredients

  • 5

    lbs. beef and pork

  • 3

    Tablespoons shortening

  • 3

    onions, chopped

  • 4

    oz. chopped green chilies

  • 14

    oz green chili salsa (Salsa Verde)

  • 1/2

    teaspoon garlic powder

  • 4

    Tablespoon flour

  • 4

    teaspoons salt

  • 1

    teaspoon cumina

Directions

Cook the beef and pork separately and slowly until meat falls apart. Let cool somewhat, and shred. Reserve the juice. Saute onions and green chilies with the shortening for about 1 minute, or until translucent. Add to the onion mixture the remaining ingredients, and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes. Next add the shredded meat and meat juice, simmer for approximately 5 minutes, or until thickened.
