Ingredients

  • 1 lb (2.5c) green split peas
  • 1.5 c sliced onion
  • 1/4 t dried marjoram, crushed
  • 1 c diced celery
  • 1 c diced carrots
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/2 t pepper

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cover peas w/2qts cold water & simmer gently 2 min; remove from heat.
3. Cover & let stand 1 hr.
4. Add onion, salt, pepper, & marjoram.
5. Bring to boil, cover, reduce heat, & simmer (don't boil).
6. Stir occasionally.
7. Cook slowly , uncovered 30-40 min.
